No billing surprises
How billing works
A plain-English guide to your Freedam subscription - from the 30-day trial through upgrades, downgrades, taxes, and cancellations.
No card to start
Freedam runs a 30-day generic trial, we never ask for payment details up front. Add a card only when you decide to convert.
Tax handled for you
Paddle is our Merchant of Record. They calculate the correct VAT, GST, or sales tax for your billing address and handle remittance in every jurisdiction.
Compliant invoices automatically
Every payment generates a tax-compliant PDF invoice, emailed to your billing contact and available from Admin → Plan & Usage.
Your first 31 days
Every workspace follows the same trial and conversion flow. Here is exactly what happens and when.
Day 0
Sign up, no card required
Create your workspace with just an email. A 30-day Team-trial clock starts and the full product is unlocked.
Day 1 - 30
Explore with confidence
Upload assets, invite admins, try AI Studio, build brand portals. Convert to a paid plan at any point, your data carries over unchanged.
Day 31 (fits Free)
Automatically moved to Free
If your workspace is within Free's limits (10 GB storage, 1 admin), we quietly switch you to the Free plan. No action required.
Day 31 (over Free)
Workspace becomes read-only
Viewers and admins still browse and download. Uploads and new invites pause until you pick a paid plan or free up space. Nothing is ever deleted.
Change your mind any time
You manage your subscription from Admin → Plan & Usage. Every change below is self-service, with no emails to support required.
Upgrade to a bigger plan

What happens
Takes effect immediately. Your next invoice is prorated so you only pay for the remaining days on the new plan.
Downgrade to a smaller paid plan
When
Any time, as long as your usage fits the target plan
What happens
Takes effect immediately. Paddle issues a proration credit for the unused portion of the current period, applied to your next invoice.
Downgrade to Free
When
When usage fits Free's limits (10 GB, 1 admin)
What happens
Immediate switch and a proration credit on your next invoice. If usage exceeds Free, the button explains exactly what is in the way.
Cancel
When
Any time
What happens
You keep full access until the end of the current billing period. No further charges. After that date the workspace is suspended; data is retained.
What counts toward your storage limit
Your plan's storage limit covers everything Freedam keeps on disk on your behalf, not just the originals you upload. That means the originals themselves, every preview and thumbnail conversion we generate for the library and brand portals, AI Studio renditions and variants, focal-point crops, transcoded video streams, and version history.
How much that adds depends entirely on what you store. Large originals such as print-resolution photography or video masters carry proportionally small previews. A library of small, web-resolution files sits at the other end: the generated thumbnail tiers can come close to the size of the originals themselves. Video and AI workflows add the most, since transcoded streams, AI Studio variants, and version history are full-size files in their own right. Rather than guess, Admin → Plan & Usage shows the exact figure for your workspace at any time.
We bundle all of it into your plan's storage allowance on purpose, so there are no separate line items for thumbnails, AI renderings, or video streams, and no surprise overage charges. When you approach your limit we warn you at 80% and 90%; new uploads are blocked at 105% so you can free up space or upgrade without anything being deleted.
Taxes & invoicing
Prices on our pricing page are shown without tax. The correct tax for your billing address - VAT in the EU and UK, GST in Canada and Australia, state sales tax where it applies in the US, and so on, is calculated at checkout and added to the plan price. The total you see in the Paddle checkout window is exactly what will be charged to your card.
We partner with Paddle, a global payment platform that acts as Merchant of Record for every paid subscription. Paddle accepts your payment method, determines the applicable tax, collects and remits it to the relevant authorities, and issues you a compliant PDF invoice after every charge. You will see Paddle's name on your card statement next to ours.
Invoices for every payment are emailed to your billing contact and are also available from Admin → Plan & Usage inside your workspace.
