Did You Mean? (Spell-check)

A single typo is enough to make a search return nothing. Freedam catches common spelling mistakes in the search bar and gently suggests the correct version.

What It Looks Like

When you type a word that doesn't match anything in your library but resembles a word that does, a small Did you mean: prompt appears in the dropdown, just above the normal suggestions.

For example:

You type suset. The dropdown shows Did you mean: sunset.
You type recepie. The dropdown shows Did you mean: recipe.
You type Amsterdm. The dropdown shows Did you mean: Amsterdam.

How to Use It

Type your query. Don't worry if you're unsure of the spelling.
If the spell-check finds a close match, you'll see Did you mean: [correct word] in the dropdown.
Click the suggestion (or use ↑ / ↓ and Enter) to re-run the search with the correct spelling.
The Gallery now shows the intended results.

When It Triggers

The spell-check only proposes a correction when:

Your word doesn't match anything in the library, and
A very similar word (usually off by one or two letters) does match.

If the word you typed is already valid — or if no close alternative exists — no prompt appears and the search runs as typed.

What It's Not

It's not a dictionary. Spell-check uses words that actually appear in your library, not a general English dictionary. This is good news: it will catch brand names, product codes and internal vocabulary that a regular spell-checker would mark as wrong.
It's not automatic. The Gallery never silently runs a corrected search instead of the one you typed. You always see and choose the correction.

Tips

Type confidently. If you're guessing a spelling, the prompt will steer you to the real word without penalising you.
Use it to learn your own library. The suggestions show you which spellings are actually in use — helpful when your organisation has multiple variants of a term (for example, "e-commerce" versus "ecommerce").
Combine with suggestions. Even without a "Did you mean" prompt, the regular suggestions dropdown often shows the correct word as an autocomplete, which you can click to replace your typed text.

Troubleshooting

No "Did you mean" prompt appears

The word you typed may already exist in the library, even if it's not what you meant. Spell-check only triggers on terms that return zero results.
Your typo may be too far from any known word for the system to be confident about a correction. Try editing a letter or two and retyping.

I see "Did you mean" but its suggestion is wrong

Ignore it and keep typing — or pick a different word from the main suggestions list below. The spell-check is a hint, never a command; your original query still runs as you typed it if you press Enter without selecting the suggestion.
